Freedom from tension
Questioner: I continually feel tension
within the mind.

Dadashri: The mind will become agitated
with tension. Sooner or later you will have to
become free from tension.
Questioner: I do realize that it is wrong
to have continued tension on the mind. I also
know that my health will suffer due to this.
Despite this awareness, the tension continues.
Dadashri: If something wrong happens
in your interaction with your father, then it will
not do any good to keep it in your mind. If you
bow down to his feet right away (apologize),
the tension will subside. If you experience
tension due to conflict with the Muslim horsecarriage
rider on the way home, or anyone else
who interacts with you during the day; bowing
down to him and apologizing will take away the
tension. What is the need to carry any tension
home with you?
Questioner: I do that in my mind, Dada.
Dadashri: Not just in your mind only,
but you should openly state, ‘I salute you
brother!’ and see the tension leave promptly.
This is for you to ensure your safe side on the
path to liberation. You are not saluting him to
boost his ego. His ego will be taken care of by
his wife when he reaches home. Tension will
increase if we bring it home, unsettled. We
should not bring any tension at home from
outside. Wherever tension is created, deal with
it by saying, ‘I have made a mistake, I am
asking for forgiveness.’ This way tension will
be released. If we do not deal with it thus, then
the tension will come home with us. Through
direct words of apology, the thoughts that create
and perpetuate stress and tension, cease. The
problem is with the inner link of egoistic anger,
which we continue harboring within. Let go of
this link.
Even when I am not guilty at all, if
someone says, ‘you are at fault,’ and I will
immediately apologize. Leave me alone from
here, my friend!

Meditation

No matter what happens to your body, meditate. Never go to sleep at night until you have communed with God. Your body will remind you that you have worked hard and need rest, but the more you ignore its demands and concentrate on the Lord, the more you will burn with joyous life, like a globe afire. Then you will know that you are not the body.
