HEAVEN IS HERE : )

Heaven Is Here
We are very, very fortunate to be alive. Do you understand that, or do you look at your existence and judge it by what is happening in your life? “I’m
happy because. . .” How many of us do that? We all do. Even me. But that does not make it right.
I was lying in bed one night, trying to sleep, thinking, “Why did this go wrong? Why did that go wrong?” All of a sudden, something inside of me said, “Stop it. The most important thing that is happening is not all the
things that are wrong. The most important thing that is happening is that this breath is coming into you.” Then I went to sleep. Confusion—gone. Yes, that is the most important thing that is happening.
All the things that are happening in your life can change, can go from good to bad to good to bad. But this should not change. Because if this changes, that’s really a bad day.
If you understand the importance of this existence, you can put away all the explanations because you don’t need them. The world is full of explanations.
For years, people have tried to explain why bad things happen. It is still going on, and it will go on forever. Removing confusion is like trying to remove darkness. The only way to remove darkness is to bring in light. One
tiny lamp will make the darkness go away. When you understand that it is not about the good and bad, but about the ultimate good that has happened,
there is clarity in your life. The light that you’re looking for is not far from you. It is within you. The joy that you are looking for is not far from you. It is within you.
If you want to see the reality, it takes a very different vision. Not, “Where? Where?” Here. Do you know how to turn within? Or are you standing at the airport waiting for your friend to come—who you don’t even know? You look
at everyone. “Could it be him? Could it be him?” And this is what you do in your life, don’t you? “Could it be her? Could it be him? Is this it? Is today the day that I’ll find my reality? Is it here? Isit in India? Is it on top of a hill? Is it in this book? Is it in this movie? Is it you? Is it you?”
What does Truth look like? I can tell you. Next time you see your face in the mirror, look closely. Don’t look for defects; look for Truth. And when you see that person in
the mirror, that’s what Truth looks like—you. Here lies Truth—in you. What do you strive for every day, unknowingly? You don’t know what Truth looks like, so you think, “If I have my perfect coffee, I’ll be happy. My newspaper. My croissant. My baby. My friends. My job.” Do you know what an incredible amount of work you are
putting in just to be a little bit happy, even for one minute? This is how much you value happiness, how much you need joy. You will stand in a line for an hour to
have one second of it. Anything. This is your drive. This is what inspires you every single day.
Do you know why a person says, “I want to forge my life”? So that he can be happy. Do you know why the little boy starts playing with his food? So he can be happy. Why do we look at a sunset, the sunrise, a star in the sky? To be amazed for a moment so we can be happy.Do you know that all that goes on in this world is because somebody thinks it’s going to make them happy? And doesit?
Happiness is within you. We plant what we think peace is—definitions, ideas. But the opportunity I offer is to be able to go within and feel it. Not by thoughts, not by ideas, but from your heart, from a place that is real. That’s what it takes.
Something inside of you is saying, “Thank you for this life. Thank you for this breath.” And in that gratitude, see the unfolding of all the mysteries. There is no mystery. There is a simplicity. There is a reality waiting for the right seeker to come along who has the vision, who can see that simplicity, who is not afraid to be simple. There are people who are afraid to be simple, because to them simplicity is worth nothing. Simplicity is everything. It’s the simplicity of feeling joy, of being alive, of wanting to be content. It is so innate for every human being. This is what everybody wants—to be fulfilled. You, too, in your way, want to be fulfilled. You, too, have the same cry.
Quench the thirst, and get thirsty again, and then quench the thirst. That’s how simple it is. I’m not here to tell you something new. The something that is very new you have—the breath that just came. That is the newest thing. And you just got it. And it left. And here comes a new one. And it just left. And here comes another one. I’m trying to point out the magic of that existence that’s there. That’s heaven. Heaven is here. Heaven is in your heart. That’s the truest heaven there is.

There is no happiness in following the ways of the world.

There is no happiness in following the
ways of the world.

Questioner: There are some people
who want what others have. If they see others
with a car, then they want it too.
Dadashri: When does lokasangnya
arise (lokasangnya—to be dictated by societal
influence)? It occurs when one is not satisfied
from within. Until today, I have not found
a single man to give me bliss. Even when I
was young, I did not find a need to keep a
radio. Are these all not live radios walking
around. One is prone to be dictated by the
ways of the world when there is greed within.
The real meaning of satisfaction is samatrushna
equanimity amidst desire.
People will say that happiness lies in
money, but there are some Sadhus—ascetics
—who will not accept money even if you
offered it to them. Even if you give me all the
gold in the world, I would not accept it because
I do not find happiness in money or
wealth at all. Happiness does not lie in money.
If it did then every one will derive happiness
from it. Whereas everyone will experience bliss
derived from the Soul because it is real happiness;
it is eternal happiness. There is so much
anand bliss in the Self that you cannot even
imagine it.

Balance

I will be calmly active, actively calm. I will not become lazy and mentally ossified. Nor will I be overactive, able to earn money but unable to enjoy life. I will meditate regularly to maintain true balance.

What do you do? : )

What do you do? I fish and enjoy life.  How do you do that?  I fish here.  No, get a big boat so you can catch more fish.  Then you can buy a second and third boat and build a big business empire.  What will I do then?  Then you can enjoy your life and relax.  So what am I doing now?

People are frustrated by others’ happiness.  We have to transcend the barrier of intellect.  It is the last hurdle in our life.

Perfection

Don’t waste time in seeking little things. Naturally it is easier to get other gifts from God than the supreme gift of Himself. But don’t be satisfied with anything less than the highest.

Mulla Nasruddin’s art of living : )

Mulla Nasruddin’s art of living was wonderful. His tales were spreading far and wide. People never got tired of talking about him and all these tales became famous. People used to say no one could be as happy as Mulla.

The Sheikh of Damascus was extremely wealthy having all the facilities in the world at his beck and call, even then the Sheikh was not happy. He had declared, “Whoever shows him the path to happiness, I would give him half of my wealth and if someone can make me happy, give me peace of mind, I would give him one thousand golden coins.” Numerous people came to him and showed him the path to happiness.

But after trying them, the Sheikh discarded because those people wanted to earn the prize. Certainly the value of prize was more important to them, than the path to happiness. So, despite wealth, riches and luxuries, he would not get happiness. Someone informed him regarding Mulla Nasruddin. He set out for his village along with a pouch containing one thousand golden coins.

No sooner he entered the village, he met a kind person. He asked him, “brother, where does Mulla Nasruddin live ?” “What you have to do with him?”

Brother, I have heard that he is an extremely wise person, if he shows me path to happiness and peace, then I will give him the prize of one thousand golden coins.”

“Have you brought one thousand golden coins with you ?”

The kind man asked. The Sheikh took out a pouch bound to his waist and showed him, “This is the bag full of golden coins.” Suddenly the kind man snatched the pouch and started running. Screaming “thief, thief” he also chased him. That kind man with pouch of golden coins ran towards the jungle. The village was left far behind. The Sheikh while following was thinking that he had made such a mistake of coming to meet Mulla Nasruddin without his guards. This village seems to be full of thieves, if Mulla is living here then there is no possibility of getting happiness and peace !” He became breathless running constantly after him.

“Oh God, how unhappy I am, I have lost my one thousand golden coins! Oh god, help me to catch that thief!” Meanwhile as if playing hide and seek game in the thick cluster of trees, that thief disappeared somewhere. Tired, helpless, and breathless Sheikh sat down under a tree. Sitting there, he was cursing himself. He was so breathless, that he was unable to speak properly. He was also unable to urge God. “Oh my god, I had come here in search of happiness, and see now, I have lost my happiness and peace of mind, and also lost my golden coins! Oh kind hearted God, please help me!” He spoke so breathlessly in a very humble manner.

Suddenly the pouch of golden coins dropped in to his lap. Looking at it, he became very happy. “Oh kind God, I thank you sincerely.” Suddenly a voice was heard from somewhere, “Sheikh, now do feel peaceful ?” “Yes, Yes, now I feel very peaceful!” “And feel the happiness ?” “Oh yes, my God, now I feel much happier!” He was very happy to find the pouch of golden coins falling from the sky, particularly after so much of running behind it. Suddenly he wondered that who was speaking ? From where did the pouch come ? He looked above and found that it was the same thief who was laughing and asking the questions

No sooner did the Sheikh see him, his feelings changed. Soon he jumped from the tree and told the Sheikh, “Just now you told me that you felt, happiness and peace of mind, so please give me one thousand golden coins, I myself am Mulla Nasruddin.”

The Sheikh was surprised, “What, Mulla also a thief…..!” “Sheikh, you have seen that happiness does not lie in wealth, luxury, riches and amenities. The happiness is the state of mind. You were ready to give away half of your wealth for happiness and peace of mind just few days back, and few moments before you were unhappy of having lost just one thousand golden coins which is a miniscule part of your wealth. You were running behind me as if to save one’s own life to get back those one thousand golden coins, which is a pittance for you, and again you were very happy to receive the wealth and got peace of mind.”

Sheikh realized the truth and with a smile he put the pouch of one thousand golden coins at the feet of the Mulla. Returning the one thousand golden coins Mulla said, “the whole world somehow creates one or the other tension and then feels happy when they become free from it. For example, when your golden coins were snatched away, tension was created in you and when you received it back, the tension was removed and you felt happiness and peace.

What is the point in getting such happiness and peace, which are dependent on one or the other thing. Happiness and unhappiness are just like two sides of a coin. Different from both of them is the condition of joy! It is not dependent on anything. This condition is beyond one’s mind. A person who has felt joy, what would he do with your coins! You keep it with yourself. Joy is inherent in you. You can achieve it by going beyond the mind, witnessing all the events of life through constant awakening.

The Level of naturalness (sahajata) for earning money : )

An inner intent to earn more money :

The intent (bhaavna) to earn more money
is raudradhyan (adverse internal meditation that hurts the
person having it and also others around). Intent for earning money means
intent to create shortage of money for others.
That is why the Lord has said, ‘do not have any
intent (occupy yourself) to earn money.’ Do
you ever plan and occupy yourself (contemplate,
dhyan) about taking a shower everyday?
Questioner : No Dada.
Dadashri : Even if you do not do that,
don’t you get a bucket full of water?

Questioner : I do get it.

Dadashri : Just as you get one bucket
of water for your shower without planning,
similarly everybody gets enough money for his
or her need. This is the law. There is no reason
for a person to become occupied with money.
Do you ever think whether you will get
a mattress to sleep on tonight? Whereas here,
one is preoccupied day and night with money,
money and money! How did you find the
stupid guru who has taught you to chase
money all day long? Due to this, people have
lost their home values and health, and have
invited ruin. We now see more people having
high blood pressure and heart attacks.
What the world does is mediated by
worldly knowledge (loksangnya). This worldly
knowledge becomes the leader for one who
has not found the right spiritual teacher. The
world believes that happiness lies in money.
The disease has got in because of this worldly
knowledge. Now, with which knowledge can
this disease be eradicated? The Lord says
that this disease can be eradicated through the
knowledge of the Gnani (gnanisangnya).
That is why I am trying to tell you this;
even without thinking do you not get water for
bathing or a mattress to sleep on or all the
other necessary things? This is your
spontaneous state (sahaj) for your routine
needs. This level of naturalness (sahajata)
needs to be there for money also.

Right Activity

Always perform small as well as important duties with deep attention, remembering that God is guiding and stimulating every worthwhile effort you are making to achieve a noble ambition.

What do I want? (by deepak chopra)

What do I want?

—- Deepak Chopra

There is a reason why you were drawn to this. Perhaps your soul is extending an invitation to you — an invitation to get in touch with the deepest part of your self. Your deepest self, your essential being, is the source of all being — the field of pure consciousness that manifests as the infinite diversity of the universe. Power, freedom, and grace are attributes of this field. So too, are happiness, joy, and bliss.

Over the course of my career, thousands of people have come to me with various problems and challenges in their lives. My career began as a physician, and in the beginning most of the people whom I met had some form of illness such as heart disease or cancer. One day I was sitting with a patient who had heart disease and I happened to ask him, Why do you want to get better?” The look in his eyes told me, What kind of ridiculous question is that?” He told me, Doesn’t everybody want to get better when they’re sick?” Yes, I said,” but why do you want to get better?” He replied, If I get better, I can go back to work and make more money.” For some unknown reason, I persisted in asking him, why? Why do you want to make more money?” Apparently amused, he agreed to play the game and said, Because I want to send my son to a good university.” I asked him why he wanted to send his son to a good university. He said,” I want my son to get a good education so he can build a successful career.” I kept asking him the question? Why, why, why?.” In the end he answered, Because I want to be happy.”

Since then, I have played this game not only with sick patients wanting to get better, but with anyone who wants anything. You can try this yourself. Ask anyone what they want, and when they tell you what they want, keep asking why until you hear the ultimate answer: Because I want to be happy.” Happiness seems to be the goal of all other goals, and yet most people seek happiness in a roundabout way.
