HEAVEN IS HERE : )

Heaven Is Here
We are very, very fortunate to be alive. Do you understand that, or do you look at your existence and judge it by what is happening in your life? “I’m
happy because. . .” How many of us do that? We all do. Even me. But that does not make it right.
I was lying in bed one night, trying to sleep, thinking, “Why did this go wrong? Why did that go wrong?” All of a sudden, something inside of me said, “Stop it. The most important thing that is happening is not all the
things that are wrong. The most important thing that is happening is that this breath is coming into you.” Then I went to sleep. Confusion—gone. Yes, that is the most important thing that is happening.
All the things that are happening in your life can change, can go from good to bad to good to bad. But this should not change. Because if this changes, that’s really a bad day.
If you understand the importance of this existence, you can put away all the explanations because you don’t need them. The world is full of explanations.
For years, people have tried to explain why bad things happen. It is still going on, and it will go on forever. Removing confusion is like trying to remove darkness. The only way to remove darkness is to bring in light. One
tiny lamp will make the darkness go away. When you understand that it is not about the good and bad, but about the ultimate good that has happened,
there is clarity in your life. The light that you’re looking for is not far from you. It is within you. The joy that you are looking for is not far from you. It is within you.
If you want to see the reality, it takes a very different vision. Not, “Where? Where?” Here. Do you know how to turn within? Or are you standing at the airport waiting for your friend to come—who you don’t even know? You look
at everyone. “Could it be him? Could it be him?” And this is what you do in your life, don’t you? “Could it be her? Could it be him? Is this it? Is today the day that I’ll find my reality? Is it here? Isit in India? Is it on top of a hill? Is it in this book? Is it in this movie? Is it you? Is it you?”
What does Truth look like? I can tell you. Next time you see your face in the mirror, look closely. Don’t look for defects; look for Truth. And when you see that person in
the mirror, that’s what Truth looks like—you. Here lies Truth—in you. What do you strive for every day, unknowingly? You don’t know what Truth looks like, so you think, “If I have my perfect coffee, I’ll be happy. My newspaper. My croissant. My baby. My friends. My job.” Do you know what an incredible amount of work you are
putting in just to be a little bit happy, even for one minute? This is how much you value happiness, how much you need joy. You will stand in a line for an hour to
have one second of it. Anything. This is your drive. This is what inspires you every single day.
Do you know why a person says, “I want to forge my life”? So that he can be happy. Do you know why the little boy starts playing with his food? So he can be happy. Why do we look at a sunset, the sunrise, a star in the sky? To be amazed for a moment so we can be happy.Do you know that all that goes on in this world is because somebody thinks it’s going to make them happy? And doesit?
Happiness is within you. We plant what we think peace is—definitions, ideas. But the opportunity I offer is to be able to go within and feel it. Not by thoughts, not by ideas, but from your heart, from a place that is real. That’s what it takes.
Something inside of you is saying, “Thank you for this life. Thank you for this breath.” And in that gratitude, see the unfolding of all the mysteries. There is no mystery. There is a simplicity. There is a reality waiting for the right seeker to come along who has the vision, who can see that simplicity, who is not afraid to be simple. There are people who are afraid to be simple, because to them simplicity is worth nothing. Simplicity is everything. It’s the simplicity of feeling joy, of being alive, of wanting to be content. It is so innate for every human being. This is what everybody wants—to be fulfilled. You, too, in your way, want to be fulfilled. You, too, have the same cry.
Quench the thirst, and get thirsty again, and then quench the thirst. That’s how simple it is. I’m not here to tell you something new. The something that is very new you have—the breath that just came. That is the newest thing. And you just got it. And it left. And here comes a new one. And it just left. And here comes another one. I’m trying to point out the magic of that existence that’s there. That’s heaven. Heaven is here. Heaven is in your heart. That’s the truest heaven there is.

You have to understand that this is your life …..

You have to understand that this is your life, and you can
make the joy and the beauty happen every day. It really is very easy.

A lot of people think it can only happen if they change the world around them. They think they have to change their children, and by the time they’ve almost gotten there, the child’s moved out. Then they think, “What else can I change? I’ll get a job that I really like.” They finally find a job they really like, and then they realize what they really like is the days off from the job : ) Then they say, “Maybe what I need to do is retire.”
Waiting—just think of all the things people are waiting for. You don’t have to wait anymore. You don’t have to change all those things around you. You can’t anyway, because when you do try to change them, they’ll try to change you. And when they do, you won’t like it.
I realized I can’t change everything, but there’s one thing I can change. All I need to do is change my list of priorities. The change has to come from within. That’s why I’m saying it’s easy. You don’t have to throw anything out, just rearrange. Of all those things that
have taken priority, put the priority to be content at the very top.

That’s all.

Nothing Trivial (BY MAHARAJI)

Nothing Trivial

An Indian poet once said that human beings have all the wealth they could possibly want. They just don’t know it. The infinite is in every heart, and when it is recognized, everything changes. Everything becomes beautiful.

Not knowing what we have, we measure ourselves by what we don’t have. And we are told that if we have this, this, and this, we will be happy. I know a person who was very successful, and in one week everything turned upside down. He went from being at the top of his game to being nobody. He even became distant from himself.

I know that solitary confinement is considered the harshest punishment for people because we are social animals. What if you had to be just with yourself? How would that be? Have you made peace with your existence? Or would you be hounded by questions you do not want to ever be asked but that you carry within you—the darkness of the unknown, of your fears?

Everyone has fears. There is the fear of failure: how you appear in the eyes of others—what your colleagues, your neighbors, the world think of you. But have you learned to live with yourself? Have you socialized with this human being that you are?

You, as a human being, what is your value? You judge yourself by all the scales that people put in front of you, “This is what’s important, this is what’s important, this is what’s important.” And you say, “Let me see where I am on this scale.” And that becomes the measurement of your success. Get rid of that scale. You don’t need it, because it is relative. You can be extremely sad, but on that scale, you’re still right up at the top.

So how steady are you? How steady is your house? Instead of wasting time trying to measure up, strengthen your house, because the storm is going to come. Maybe it will be a little storm, maybe a big one. It’s irrelevant, if your house is strong. Inner strength is the strength that lasts.

The person I was talking about had everything. All he needed was inner strength. But when his house of cards fell, he fell with it. His house wasn’t strong. If he had had that inner strength, it would’ve been okay. He would’ve been happy. He’s still not poor, but that’s not the point. That scale will fluctuate. The question is, will you fluctuate with it?

Don’t judge yourself by what the world has done to you and what the world tells you, by what has happened or what has not happened. You are alive. You’re breathing. And because you are breathing, you are rich, not poor. You have a great gift. The same power that’s backing up the entire universe is backing you up—something I cannot even pretend to fathom.

I know the word infinite. I cannot fathom it, but I can feel it, because that infinite is also within me. And that’s my strength. The universe breathes; it comes together and expands, comes together and expands. It’s a living thing. Something is keeping it all intact. And breath is coming to you, courtesy of that. Most people ignore it: “Breath? What is this breath?” But don’t ignore it, experience it.

This thing called life has been described as a portal, a gateway. This is as close as the infinite and the finite can get. And here, in this life, the finite can experience the infinite. Just like in space, eventually the infinite will consume the finite. The finite will go back to being dust again, and the infinite will remain.

That’s amazing, I think. There’s a lot of nothing out there. And then there is something, and that something is really something. And then, a lot of nothing again. Expanding and contracting. Breathing, existing. Disappearing, reappearing. Colliding. Becoming something else. It’s quite a thing. Amazing. Here you are; you are something. Don’t compare it, “Oh, that’s so trivial.” In this universe nothing is trivial—nothing. Even dust is not trivial, because that’s all there is—compacted dust and loose dust. You’re dust. But it’s something, not nothing.

So let go of your confusion, doubts, misery. Do not always worry, “What’s going to happen? Where am I going?” This is what you’ve been wondering all your life. People have so many ideas. Fine. I absolutely believe that heaven is here. And I not only believe, I know this is the vessel that can feel the beauty of heaven. This is what has been given to you.
