How can we know what is the proper balance in our lives?

How can we know what is the proper balance in our lives?

The more you meditate, the more balance you’ll have in life. A person who doesn’t meditate can’t understand that, but people who have done meditation understand that the more you meditate the more balance you get. You have worldly obligations, and you blend spirituality with them. You say, “I have to work this much for my living and this much action performed in the world will give me enough food and clothing, enough time for my spiritual practice.” I think that it is on the basis of the spiritual experience that you can balance yourself. It naturally happens. When you throw a log into the water it does not swim – it does not have the power to swim. It floats with the water. So in meditation you throw yourself into that stream of life, it picks you up and you can go with that.

Right Activity

Before embarking on important undertakings, sit quietly, calm your senses and thoughts and meditate deeply. You will then be guided by the great creative power of Spirit.

If a happy man sees that five days of working is enough, then two days he rests — goes fishing or to the mountains.

If a happy man sees that five days of working is enough, then two days he rests — goes fishing or to the mountains. If he sees that only two days working it is enough, then he works two days — in the five days there are much more important things to do.He has to play his guitar, and he has to dance, and he has to just sit with his friends and gossip. He has to meditate, be prayerful. He has a thousand and one things. His work is a need he has to fulfill. He enjoys it, but is not obsessed with it. A happy man is never a perfectionist, only unhappy people are perfectionist, only unhappy people are obsessed with their work — because that is the only way they can avoid facing themselves, they can avoid encountering themselves. They are continuously working, they will go on working; unless they fall asleep they go on working.

Effort

Practicing yoga is half the battle. Even if you don’t feel enthusiastic in the beginning, if you go on practicing you will come to feel that tremendous longing for God which is necessary if you are to find Him. Why don’t you make the effort? Whence do all the beautiful things in creation continually emerge? Whence comes the intelligence of great souls, but from the storehouse of the Infinite Spirit? And if these wonders you see about you are not enough to induce you to seek Him, why should He reveal Himself to you? He has given you the capacity for love that you may yearn for Him above all else.
Don’t misuse your love and reason. And don’t misuse your concentration and intelligence on false goals.

In juggling all the balls in my life, do I ask: Who put all these balls in my hand?

In juggling all the balls in my life, do I ask: Who put all these balls in my hand? Me! “I’ll do this, and this, and this, too.” Somebody says, “You mind taking care of this problem, too?” “Okay.” That’s the day I became a juggler. Not understanding my primary responsibility is to that thirst inside of me that is calling out to me every single day to be fulfilled.
We forget our true nature. We accept the nature of those around us. Look in the mirror within you and see for yourself who you are: Beautiful, ageless. You’re not the sum of your wrinkles. There is something in you since you were a child, and it will be there till your very last breath. Get to know it. Live your life consciously. Be aware of every day because it’s irreplaceable.
If you are looking, look, but know what you are looking for. If you are searching, search, but know what you are searching for. If you are waiting, wait, but know what you’re waiting for. And if you’re looking for the companion, then know who the truest companion is. The truest companion that will be there till the very end. This is all within you.

Meditation

What joy awaits discovery in the silence behind the portals of your mind no human tongue can tell. But you must convince yourself; you must meditate and create that environment.

Speech by Bryan Dyson (CEO of Coca Cola : )

Speech by Bryan Dyson (CEO of Coca Cola)

‘Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, Friends and SPIRIT and you’re keeping all of these in the Air.

You will soon or one day understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.

But the other four Balls – Family, Health, Friends and Spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered.

They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for Balance in your life.’

Practicing the Presence of God

There cannot be any excuse for not thinking of God. Day and night, rolling in the background of your mind, God! God! God!…Whether you are washing dishes or digging a ditch or working in an office or a garden —whatever you may be doing — inwardly say, “Lord, manifest to me! You are right here. You are in the sun. You are in the grass. You are in the water. You are in this room. You are in my heart.”

What do I want? (by deepak chopra)

What do I want?

—- Deepak Chopra

There is a reason why you were drawn to this. Perhaps your soul is extending an invitation to you — an invitation to get in touch with the deepest part of your self. Your deepest self, your essential being, is the source of all being — the field of pure consciousness that manifests as the infinite diversity of the universe. Power, freedom, and grace are attributes of this field. So too, are happiness, joy, and bliss.

Over the course of my career, thousands of people have come to me with various problems and challenges in their lives. My career began as a physician, and in the beginning most of the people whom I met had some form of illness such as heart disease or cancer. One day I was sitting with a patient who had heart disease and I happened to ask him, Why do you want to get better?” The look in his eyes told me, What kind of ridiculous question is that?” He told me, Doesn’t everybody want to get better when they’re sick?” Yes, I said,” but why do you want to get better?” He replied, If I get better, I can go back to work and make more money.” For some unknown reason, I persisted in asking him, why? Why do you want to make more money?” Apparently amused, he agreed to play the game and said, Because I want to send my son to a good university.” I asked him why he wanted to send his son to a good university. He said,” I want my son to get a good education so he can build a successful career.” I kept asking him the question? Why, why, why?.” In the end he answered, Because I want to be happy.”

Since then, I have played this game not only with sick patients wanting to get better, but with anyone who wants anything. You can try this yourself. Ask anyone what they want, and when they tell you what they want, keep asking why until you hear the ultimate answer: Because I want to be happy.” Happiness seems to be the goal of all other goals, and yet most people seek happiness in a roundabout way.

YESTERDAY’S FOOD

Once there was a very rich merchant, doing well in business. His wife  died long ago. He had one married son. His daughter-in- law was very wise and expert in house hold works. He was very much proud of her. Once he was having lunch at his verandah when a monk came to his door asking for some food. The merchant didn’t pay attention as he never used to give anything to such kind of people. The monk asked again and didn’t get any reply. As he was asking third time, the daughter-in- law replied politely – “Dear babaji, go to next door. My father-in-law is himself having yesterday’s food. He will not be able to give you anything.”

The monk understood and went ahead. But as the merchant heard these words spoken by the girl, he became very much angry with her. He was the richest person in the village. Why would he eat yesterday’s food? The girl must have become insane – he thought. As he was very much proud of her wise ness, so his anger was even greater. How did it come he didn’t realize this girl’s insanity? He summoned panchaayat (village court) and girl’s father that the girl was out of her mind and his son would break this marriage tie.

As people gathered in panchaayat, he told the event and asked for justice which was to untie the marriage in his point of view. The girl’s father was also present. He said-” I know my daughter is wise enough not to speak any meaningless words. But I am unable to understand its meaning. So I would request her to come and explain why she said so. It is not wise to give a decision without hearing her.”

The panchaayat agreed on it and the girl came to panchaayat. She said -” I know my father-in-law is the richest and most respected person in this village. What I wanted to say that he has done much good deeds in his previous lives that is why he got these wonderful blessings from GOD which he is enjoying now. In this way it is his yesterday’s earned food. But he is not doing any good deeds in this life, but only earning money for himself. I love him very much and want him to enjoy these blessings forever. I wanted to tell him this truth that is why I said so. I knew he would be angry and would like to get an explanation, and then maybe I will be able to tell him.”

The merchant understood the real meaning of the words and felt very much ashamed to bring his wise daughter-in- law in court. He apologized and started doing some actual good deeds for others.

It is general practice that people either enjoy their present blessings or they feel inferior while seeing others having more possessions in life. People always think why other has more wealth, why they are more intelligent. They forget that each and everything is our own earning. Whatever we earned, we are eating now. And whatever we are doing will come to us in future, be it material treasures or spiritual. In the same way people enjoy their current position. They laugh at others who don’t have intellect, money and other thing. They enjoy even their spiritual status, but they forget that if they will not work at present, their current treasure would be slowly spent…….We should work for tomorrow while we are enjoying present.

HAVE A GREAT DAY…..

With Best  Regards,
